Black Mountain Trail (Henderson, NV)

The Black Mountain Trail in Anthem has some of the best views of Las Vegas.  The hike takes approximately two hours up and about 1.45 coming down.  This doesn’t include the 20-30 minutes relaxing at the top and taking in the views of the Vegas valley, Boulder City and beyond.  The first hour and a half is quite easy.  It is a gradual incline with a lot of switchbacks.  The last 20-30 minutes of the hike is 2x as hard as the first half.  There is a little scrambling and loose rocks, but the view that awaits you at the top will make it worth it.  I’ve done the hike a handful of times and this is by far one of my favorite hikes.  Make sure to bring plenty of water.  Especially in the summer (if you are crazy enough to do this hike in 100+ degree heat).

Take Eastern south all the way.  Stay left onto Anthem Parkway for approximately 2 miles.  After 2 miles, turn Left onto Atchley Dr. and continue for .4 miles.  After .4 miles make another left onto Shadow Canyon Dr.  Continue for .5 miles and you will see a small parking lot.  Park here.
